The Central Government has decided to construct the RRR for a total of 347.80 km in the north and south parts, estimating an initial cost of Rs.22 thousand crores. However, the latest estimates suggest that the total cost of the two parts will be between Rs.25 thousand crores and Rs.26 thousand crores. This increase in cost is expected due to the rising construction costs. The land acquisition for the northern part has already reached the final stage, while road proposals for the southern part are also progressing.

The southern part of the RRR will be constructed for a length of 189.20 km up to Chautuppal, Amangallu, Shadnagar, Chevella, and Sangareddy. The Center has allocated a budget of Rs.13 thousand crores to Rs.14.5 thousand crores for this part. Although the cost of land acquisition for the southern part is expected to be lower due to the presence of private land along with government land, the construction cost will increase. The proposal for the southern part was prepared a year ago but was held back to include it in ‘Bharatmala-2’ after the land acquisition case of the northern part was resolved.

The formal agreement is that the central and state governments will share the cost of land acquisition equally. The state government has agreed to pay half of the cost of the northern part in phases, with its share being around Rs.1,200 crores. The state government has released Rs.100 crores as the first installment and will release the funds in installments as per requirement, as agreed upon by the National Highways Agency (NHAI) and the state government. The officials have submitted proposals for the construction of the first 60 km of road in the northern part, and the foundation stone will be laid after the completion of the tender process.
